This residence was a classic late 1970ās contemporary home in need of a complete remodel. The existing kitchen was the primary space that needed attention based on its dated aesthetics, dysfunction and converging circulation patterns. The design solution, created by Ryan Duebber architect, was established to simplify the room composition into a singular āLā shape with a central island. This created new focal points and defined a clear flow through the space into the dining room. The large bay window and adjacent man door were removed to allow for the new configuration. Wider openings along with a new banquette style dining table allowed a generous passage through the dining area into the living room. Lastly, a simple yet elegant palette of materials was integrated into the design utilizing a mix of greens, neutrals, and wood tones to create subtle contrast to emphasize the new focal points in the kitchen.
